Reverence

Speak a blessing

Encourage your children throughout your lesson by being quick to commend them whenever you notice them show respect for God. Simple statements like these mean a lot to a child.

  • You honoured God by being quiet while we prayed. Thank you.
  • Thank you for being willing to pray about this. When you talk to God about your problems, it shows you believe He cares and is strong enough to help.
  • Great job obeying God’s command to __________________ (e.g. do to others as you would want done to you, love your neighbour, obey your parents). When we fear God, we obey His commandments.
  • I’m glad you remembered to pray before eating. God is honoured when we remember to thank Him for the good things we have in our lives.
  • I like the way you treated ________ (name the aspect of God’s creation). It shows God you respect Him when you treat the things He made with care.
  • Thank you for respecting ________ (name the person your child showed respect for). God is pleased when we respect people; we are all His creations.
  • We honour God when we bow our heads or kneel, and when we pay attention when someone is praying to God.
